Achieving true physical fitness is something that seems to be a feat only a few people do. This is due largely to the fact that it is simply very difficult to adhere to an exercise program. There are many physical and mental barriers that prevent people from engaging in a good exercise regimen. Often people make mistakes with their diets, their routines, or their discipline, causing them to fall short on their fitness goals. Others go to the gym often and even eat right, but still only see limited results. This is often because their body has become accustomed to their workout, and is good at anticipating what exercise is coming next. This is a problem because the only way your body can improve is by it being taken out of that comfort zone and by taxing your muscles to the breaking point.
A good fitness schedule and routine is often built upon that feeling of discomfort. Your routine should always be a challenge to finish, one that pushes you to the brink of exhaustion. If you are not breaking a sweat when you hit the gym, than you aren’t doing it right. Often times people think attending the gym and doing a few reps is enough to turn their body into a lean and mean fighting machine. This is never the case though, as all of the real improvements are made when your strength is waning and you are unsure if you can push that bar up even one more time.
If you really want to see results in your exercise regimen, you need to make sure that you feel the pain in your workout. The expression “no pain, no gain” isn’t just an accident; it is a mantra that many fitness gurus live by to maximize the benefits of their workout. If you are going to take valuable time out of your day to go to the gym and get fit, why not do it right? Don’t waste your own time by only giving it half of your effort.
